ha! No, I didn’t tow my boat with the Volvo. It can move it around the yard fine, but I wouldn’t want to go up and over the roads between my house and the lake. Hills, big ones, and lots of winding curves.

But I did get my father in law to bring it to the ramp, then I took the empty trailer home. That it did beautifully.

The boat is in! It ran perfectly, as I had expected but... you know. Then my father and I put our dock in, and it’s at its happy summer home! I used to be That Guy whose boat was in before the ice was totally gone, but not anymore. T his is super early in recent years, as we usually don’t bother when it’s still cold, kids are in school, and my work is busier than usual. But WTF, let’s get that puppy in! Tomorrow should be nice enough to get the whole family out, which is part of the decision - last May, the only nice days were the weekends that we were out of town, so the boat didn’t go in until June 8th or something.

I did get to a ton of little projects on the boat while it was at my house, but of course, there are 5 more things I thought of today... oh well. I can clean it later, too - I didn’t do that almost at all.

That is all. I’m going to bed early tonight, last night I didn’t drink more than any other recent Friday night, but maybe I drank it too quickly and too late? I don’t know, but today was not pretty - I was glad for these distractions, and now I’m going to watch some TV and not stay up late whatsoever.

I’m jealous, it l ooks lovely. My brother just put in a new aluminum dock at my camp back in NY. I doubt I’ll make it back this year, but looking forward to checking it out next summer.

ohhhh I’d LOVE to replace this dock with aluminum. This steel frame, though, is probably the only one that’s ever been at this house - it’s in pictures from the 1970's when my grandparents first bought the place. It’s on its third set of wood tops at least. Most people are going aluminum these days. But our old steel frame is rugged, that’s for sure.
